Getting Started

What is Jinn Projects?
Jinn Projects is a client-facing project management platform built for agencies, studios, and freelancers. It gives your clients a clean, professional portal where they can track project progress, view tasks, leave comments, and download files — without you having to send weekly status emails.
Is it really free?
Yes. Jinn Projects is completely free during early access. No credit card is required to sign up. All features — including stencils, global search, keyboard shortcuts, and email notifications — are fully available. We will give registered users at least 30 days' notice before any changes to the free plan.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Jinn Projects runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to download or install. It works on any modern desktop or mobile browser.
How do I invite my clients?
After logging in as an admin, go to Clients in the sidebar and click Add Client. Enter their name, email address, and company. They will receive a verification email and can log in to their own client portal immediately after verifying.

Projects & Tasks

How many projects can I create?
During early access there are no limits — create as many projects, tasks, and client accounts as you need.
Can a client see another client's projects?
Absolutely not. Data isolation is enforced at the server level. A client account can only ever access projects, tasks, and files that belong to their own workspace. This is by design and cannot be bypassed.
What are stencils?
Stencils are reusable task templates. If you run the same type of project repeatedly (e.g. "Website Launch", "Brand Identity"), create a stencil with all the standard tasks once, then apply it to any new project. It saves hours of setup time.
How is project progress calculated?
The progress bar is automatically calculated as the percentage of tasks inside a project that have the status Done. There is no manual override — it always reflects actual task completion.

Files & Comments

What file types can I upload?
Most common file types are supported: images (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG), documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), archives (ZIP, RAR), video (MP4, MOV), audio (MP3, WAV), and plain text files. Each file is validated server-side for type and size.
Who gets notified when a comment is posted?
All people associated with the task receive an automatic email notification: the task assignee, all client users linked to the project, and all admin and agency team members. The comment author is excluded from the notification.
Can clients upload files?
Yes. Clients can upload files from their Files page (generic project files) and also attach files directly to comments on tasks. Admins can see all files uploaded by clients across all projects.

Account & Security

How do I reset my password?
On the Sign in page, click Forgot password?, enter your email address, and we'll send a reset link. The link is valid for 2 hours. If it expires, simply request a new one.
How is my data secured?
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Sessions use HTTP-only, SameSite=Lax cookies. All connections are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Files are stored server-side with randomised names and served only to authenticated, authorised users. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Email support@jinn.report with your registered email address and we'll delete your account and all associated data within 90 days. This action is irreversible.
